Hi I'm David. I have been in the blacksmithing world since August of 2010. I started taking blacksmithing at the Haywood Community College (www.Haywood.edu). They have a great blacksmithing course that is tied into the jewelery program. I hope they make it into a seperate crafts degree.

Anyways the ABS (American Blade Society I think?) meets here now and offers lots of seminars and weekend courses on bladesmithing.

I work with the Traditional methods of forging out the steel with a coal forge. I have made one knife so far and am currently taking a knife making class as well as advanced handwrought metals.. which goes into forge welding and damascus steel making.

So this is me. I have browsed these forums from time to time and figured I'd stop and say hi. so hi :)

First Knife I forged in basic blacksmithing class. I jumped the gun and learned some of the advanced stuff from a bladesmith and the rest of the finishing process (grinding, heat treat, handle and pins etc) from my instructor. :)
