Here are a couple pics of a knife my Dad made for me. It's a display piece that we use to show off the handle material at shows.

Description of the handle material taken from ankromexotics.com

“Original Cactus Blank”™ knife scales are hand made from Texas Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia lindheimeri Engelm. var. lindheimeri), the state plant of Texas. Portions of the cactus are painstakingly harvested, processed, and cast in urethane resin to make the set of scales. (All scales are bookmatched.) Only naturally dead pads are harvested and no damage is done to the living plant.

Thanks everyone, I'm pretty proud of it. I'll be posting some more pics of his work as time goes on. He's a very gifted and talented knifemaker.

There is something about those scales that makes me feel compelled to touch them. Is that strange?
