    i really love the results from the accordion cutting, gives a very clean undisturbed pattern :) i hope i get to the stage one day where im not to tight not want to do it! really nice overall design, i like the combination of crisp lines and curves.

    yup, its for sharpening. A friend has one very similar. if i remember rightly the belts were of a hard to get size, his one ran very slowly and was not suitable for anything other than sharpening and polishing.

    thought this might be of interest here, some of you may have seen the WIP thread i posted over on British Blades. the blade is BS1407, wrought and brass spacers, pin and guard with stabilized Curly Koa for the handle. 11 1/2" blade, 17" overall lenght.

    one i made a few days ago, went for a hamon but the edge was too thin and it ended up warping so i lost some size getting it back straight. the blade is from a file, the spacer from vulc. fibre, stainless and cow horn, the handle is stabilized walnut and the pin is silver. 4" blade, 5mm thick...

    try glue some thick leather to the inside of jaws or making some liners from sheet steel and gluing some leather or wood to those.
