Wood

KNIFEMAKER
Quick question. When you send wood off to be stabilized does it shrink? I know this is a strange question, but I am going through my wood and picking out what I want done. Some of it is already cut into scales. Thanks, James

It doesn't shrink as much as it will twist and warp at least some. It may occasionally check (crack here and there).

You always want to send it slightly over size. Send blocks and cut into scales later. Sending scales can really have them come back warped and twisted.

I prefer stabilized wood in most cases BUT it will still move, just not as much.
