    Splitting Eyelets

Thanks for all the input. Just got off the phone a bit ago, customer service is great. I think I went through more than half the bag trying different things just to be sure it wasn't user error. One thing I didn't try was heating the eyelets but it was 98 in my garage yesterday so I figured that...

    Splitting Eyelets

Hoping to tap into some knowledge here in sheaths: I can't seem to set an S-61 eyelet without it splitting (90% of them). My first thought was the dies(they're the USA Knifemaker ones) however it doesn't happen in the same spot. I marked the position where a split occured on the male die with a...

Try McMaster-Carr : http://www.mcmaster.com/#socket-cap-screws/=6ujrcr Ordered some short phillips head screws last night to attach snaps to kydex. Not sure if they ship overseas, might be worth checking. T edit: saw they had threaded stand-offs, might try using that instead of the...

    Some sheaths

Fastenal, they've changed their website since the last time I ordered but these should match: http://www.fastenal.com/web/products.ex?N=999600043+1199783505+1199938712+1199929475&Nty=0 "button socket cap srews in black oxide" - I've used 1/4, 3/8, and 5/8. There's a "Fastenal" store near...

    Teak as handle material?

Not at all. Went really slow, took my time, was worried about making some irreparable mistake and having to start over again. Did have some trouble using a counter sink - I didn't clamp it down, got the first three holes without issue then it started "hopping" on the third... lesson learned.

    Some sheaths

Just want to say thanks to all the people that constantly share their tips, ideas, insight, and work! Tip of the hat to Martin Swinkels, Armoralleather, Chuddy Bear to name a few. Finished this for a buddy's Ontario RAT 7. Wanted it to be MOLLE compatible and have variable carry options...

    Teak as handle material?

Finally got around to this project though not on the intended knife - A buddy approached me about making a kydex sheath for his Ontario Rat 7. When he showed me the knife (a beater) I noticed the micarta was damaged and asked if he would mind if I changed them out. It wasn't till last week...

    Teak as handle material?

Thanks for all the input. Wanted to get to it this weekend but looks like it's gonna have to wait till next. For those who commented - the existing handles are micarta secured with screws/standoffs. Planned on replacing the existing screws with stainless as I'm gonna strip the duracoat off and...

    Teak as handle material?

Just like the title says. Does Teak make good handle material - won't split, crack, etc.? I want to go down to the boating supply, pick up a 4 foot section, marry it up to my old Tops Moccassin Ranger and shape away. Anyone have any pros or cons to Teak? T

    Missing dollar!

The $2 the bellboy kept is part of the $27 the three men paid. You can't add it to the $27. The men paid $27 for a $25 room (with $2 to the bellboy). 27 + 3 (refund) = 30. Or 30 - 3 (refund) = 27, 27 - 2(bellboy) = 25 (price of the room). Or in other words So... with the refund, each...
