    Sounds good I'll look at them, what about heat treating? When does that happen, I can not do it myself so I have to have someone else do that for me.

    I would like to start making chef's knives using either cpm154 or elmax, problem is I don't know where to start. I have a design on paper and was going to order the flat stock, cut the shape on my band saw. And that is as far as I've gotten. My question is what do I do about heat treating...

    For someone who is just starting out and is not set up for any kind of heat treating annealling or forging, where is there a place to get "ready to go" knife blanks.

    Looking for advice

    I'm new to this forum and was hoping that some could point me in the right direction. I want make my own chef's knife but I have no clue where to start, all I have for tools are woodworking tools so I guess I am limited but willing to give it ago. Where do I start?

    Just wanted to stop in and say hello. I'm a hobbiest woodworker by day and a kitchen manager/cook by night. I have been wanting to make a set of kitchen knives and I figured this would be a good first step. So any pointers are welcome.
