Ralph D'Elia Yeah I found the same info, kinda strange how that 100 degrees from 1000 to 1100 will drop it 9 points, Maybe I'll try 1050 and see what I get. I have not forgot about the patern you asked for, my scanner and my shop are in 2 different places and I can never get the 2 together.

I need help with this, I generally only heat treat carbon steels. Can anyone tell me the proper temps to heat tteat and temper a spring for a slip joint?

Thanks for the comments, yes we twisted it tight but no press just a hammer.
