    Bearings maintenance

The custom maker may offer a spa treatment so to speak. It's great to see an expensive knife that's had a lot of use, gives it character. I'd agree washers would be the best option for something that's going to see dirt. No my area of expertise but perhaps if you did go with bearings ceramic...

    Selling knives

Agree. Instagram has been a blessing for me. I haven't tried facebook as I've been told they ask you to "promote" your posts where as in the past something you posted would be seen by everyone automatically. Sort of asking you to pay to solve a problem they've artificially created. Might not...

Which metal cuting band saw to buy?

I'd highly recommend finding a vintage cast iron saw and fitting a 30:1 gearbox on it if it isn't already designed for metal. I believe delta made one for wood and metal. More work but if they're engineered heavy they can take heavy work. I've only bought 1 morse blade and it's still going...

    need heat treat furnace plans

The videos by libris custom knives on youtube were very helpful when I built mine. There's a wiring diagram which is the only complicated bit. A router bit in a drill press is very handy to cut the channels for the elements

Yep, it was going too fast for titanium, It can also go ridiculously fast to cutting lock bar slots with a dremel wheel. Very handy. I still have no clue who made that bandsaw originally. Thinking about it it's more hot rodding old tools than restoring them.

Thanks, I tend to look at pictures of old american cars and then design a knife afterwards. If I look at another knife I just end up copying it.

Hello, Thought I'd introduce myself and some of my work, I have a small workshop in Cornwall full of vintage machines I've gathered (another interest besides knifemaking). Anyway let me know what you think.
