Mike,
What steel are you using? I ask because I bought 12' of W2 from Aldo and 4' of his 1075 in addition to some W2 from Don Hanson III that I bought before he sold out.
I will be forging out a couple blades this weekend from Aldo's W2 and this will be my first foray into Hamon land...
So...
It's a piece of 1/2" thick roofing material. 120#? I pulled the anvil last night after spending an hour cutting the pattern from the base of the anvil out. I figured it would get covered with scale in time but I didn't want to breath the smoke if I dropped a blade on it... The idea was to...
I helped Greg Haile at his first table in April at OKCA. Greg brought bar stools. It allowed him to see the customers eye to eye. It saves the back from standing the entire time. I loaned him my 100+ year old anvil for a display piece with his forged damascus blank he had just made. The anvil...
Made my stand today. 35" High to the face. Tri-pod style with a 1-1/2"x13"x13" top plate. It's 35-1/4" to the face.
I have a 107# 1-1/2" thick plate for the stand for my 300# Fisher that I'll weld up next week. I'll mount my 300# anvil at 30" high for striking and using top tools.

For my corby bolts I use these counterbore tools from Pop's. I have the one you posted from Jantz but like the one from Pop's much better.
A kid on another forum who I've helped out with some free Inswool and other stuff returned the favor today!! He e-mailed me with a CL posting today.I have been looking for a smaller/second Fisher to go with my 300# Fisher for a year now.
I am off for a week after surgery for a Ventral Hernia...
I've watched this SG go from $795 to $275 on CL. I didn't have $795 and didn't "need" a SG....so it sat on CL... I have been sorely tempted to call when it was at $495 and $375....
Well, Friday a customer gave me a $100 tip for coming out late to fix a dripping hose bibb. He wanted me to...
Enjoying your build! This makes all the mills I've been looking at more attractive. Installing a DRO looks like a reasonable project to do myself!
Just gotta find a deal on a mill.
There's nothing wrong with spending all your time playing with tooling to make knives..... :nothing: Eventually you'll have everything you need...... And THEN you can make knives.
That really is a nice looking machine.
