  • Usually not. I'd use "sheath grade" cowhide, and usually put in a "welt," then I'd cover the area with buckskin after beading it. I do mostly tooled sheaths nowadays, dressing them up with brass tacks, conchos, or studs. After doing beadwork for going on 35 years, it's getting hard on my eyes, so I don't do that much beaded buckskin stuff anymore, plus, my hands are alittle arthritic after all these years which also makes the beading difficult. I now do mostly tooled items, dressed up with brass tacks, conchos, or studs. I don't do orders, I just makes sheaths at random and put a knife with them and sell them at the local craftshows and flea markets. I'm glad you liked my stuff.
