Filworking for carbon blades, or just stainless?

I have a question, should you only do custom filework on stainless blades or high carbon (non stainless) also? Im worried about someone not taking care of a blade and it rusting at the filework. what do you guys think or do? If a customer ordered carbon and filework i would make it. But just making some high carbon blades and fileworking them to be sold at shows some time in the future etc. Good idea or a bad idea? thanks.

If the customer can/will take care of the edge, they'll probably take care of the filework too. I imagine a little wax in the filework would help and not wear off terribly fast.

One cool thing about fileworking carbon steel is, it would be very easy to blue the fiework and polish the flats (or vice versa) for nice contrast. Even inexpensive cold-blue helps prevent corrosion to some extent, as well.

I say go for it and just inform your customers how to keep it clean, as you probably would anyway.
