Cru Forge V in field use?

I'm thinking about buying a cru forge V steeled knife and, while I find some discussions of it forging quality, etc., I can't seem to find any real world using results on skinning deer, hogs, etc. Information on how it cuts and how sharp, edge retention, ease of sharpening compared to other premium steels, such as S30V, 52100, etc would be appreciated.

I have not used it a lot in the field but have tested a few blades and found it to have very good edge retention and toughness under heavy chopping into seasoned red oak. I have also found it to be noticeably more resistant to abrasives than 5160 or 10-series steels when grinding after HT.

I have to agree with Justin. I have made some blades with crewforg V and tested some and they hold up very well. It is very close to 5160. seems to hold an edge very well (cutting through 2x4 and still shave). That said I have not used it in the field. I do like it but it is a little harder to forge than 5160 but makes a great knife...steve
