Making a steel

Hi Dave, Do you mean for Making Damascus. there are a TON of Combinations to use. Try the Search feature here on KnifeDogs. I'm certain a Bunch of options will surface. Good luck2thumbs
 
I thought Dave meant a honing steel like butchers use to touch-up their knives. :confused:

If so, here's another current thread on the topic. Check out post #8 in particular.

The steel would have to be harder than a knife, obviously. I don't think you would need to temper it back much after quenching. Just don't drop it! :eek:

Just what I was looking for! Thanks. I work as a die cast specialist, and we throw out allot of used push pins, and think I will give them a try.
