Here's a chopper I just finished.
Steel-5160
Thickness-1/4"
Overall length-16"
Blade-10&1/2" (tip to plunge) 1&1/2" wide
Handle-Osage Orange (4&7/8" from front of scale to butt)
1/4" SS handle bolts and thong hole
Brown leather sheath
This blade was ground from 1/4" stock, heated to 1200 deg. and air cooled two times for stress relief. Brought to 1525 deg. and quenched in Mcmaster-Carr 11 second quench oil. Tempered @ 350 deg. three times, for two hours each time. It is flat ground with a convex edge. The edge was approx. .035" before final edge was ground.
$200.00 shipped anywhere in USA
Thanks for looking.
The white stuff on the front of the handle and in the thong tube is renaissance wax that didn't quite get buffed off.
