Hi all, I bought a knife at the gun and knife show this weekend and it has a grey micarta handle, I sharpened it and got oil on it bah.
No big deal dawn cleaned it up but I would like to keep that from happening again soo.
What do you use to seal up micarta or do you?
thanks

Micarta shouldn't need to be sealed. It's pretty much inert and impervious to anything. It may discolor a bit with dirt or oils, and many swear that WD40 will help clean it up and make it a uniform color again, especially with black micarta. With things like tan canvas and other colors, I often use Danish oil when I finish the handle to color the exposed thread ends and darken it up a bit. Makes it look more finished. Depending on how the handle is finished, it may get darkened up a bit with whatever oil you use, but that's ok.
