What do you guys use with your etcher and stencil to get a nice clean etch.
I have never used a stencil, but should receive mine from Ernie Grospitch next week.Just would like to know what I need.

Thanks for the help.

God bless,Keith

Keith,
I use the personalizer plus per the directions and it works like a charm. I give it about 3 or 4 three second bursts to get it nice and clean. see my post under stencil help.

Thanks Steve,I will apologize, but maybe I am missing something .I don't know the proper term, but I am saltwater solution along with my etcher to do my etching,I just figured there would something better to use, other than the saltwater.Again I will say if this has been answered,I apologize for being slow ,thanks for helping.

God bless,Keith

There is an etching solution that you can get!!

You can find it at a few of the knife supply companies.
Here is a link to Pop's
http://www.popsknifesupplies.com/electrolyte_sc_e1.html

They have two different solutions and a cleaner.
Jantz sells it to.

Depending on what you have for an etcher the answer to your question will be different.

I built my etcher using Chris Crawfords plans
http://chriscrawfordknives.com/#/electro-etching-unit/4535265119

I just use a q-tip instead of the felt pad.

Also I just put some salt in a cup and pour is some warm water, mix and use that as an etchant. I dont know that I can get a better etch using a solution.

Could someone take a pic of there cuetip set up I dont want to do it wrong just got my stencils and built my etcher , how wet do you get the cuetip and do you just put the aligator clip on the cuetip . sorry I'm confusing myself,

I can post a pic tomorrow morning,

All I do is wet the qtip until its completly wet, then pat dry on a paper towel.
then put the alligator clip on the same end that is wet but near the top of that ends cotton.
