I'm getting ready to build my first forge and would like to add a thermocouple and pyrometer. Were is the best place ( and most cost effective ) to get one.
thanks

I personally use a single line readout PID controller (http://cgi.ebay.com/UNIVERSAL-PID-TEMPERATURE-CONTROL-CONTROLLER_W0QQitemZ200402591755QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2ea8ece00b that I purchased off Ebay for about $40, and a $20 thermocouple from Omega.com (http://www.omega.com/ppt/pptsc.asp?ref=JTIN&Nav=tema07)

If you purchase a pyrometer designed for a kiln, an analog model will run you around $100+ and a digital will be $300+ (http://www.baileypottery.com/kilns/pyrometers.htm)
