The wife got me this custom Higonokami by a newer Japanese maker Seiji Yanagida.

Stainless Damascus with VG10 core, just about semi skinner blade.
Not sure of the wood, could be ironwood, very nice. The dealer picked 1.
This knife is razor sharp. The spine is rounded off smooooth.

Traditional Higonokami made by Mr. Nagao in Miki-City. He is a very old and only craftsman still making it in same old traditional method.
He now uses Hitachi Aogami (Blue*carbon steel) San Mai for blade, and the handle is still same of Brass material.


This thing is made to use, sturdy sharp & basic even has file marks on spine but it works great.

They have both copped a canning since christmas cutting cardboard & cable ties(I think you guys call them zip ties). The kids presents had a lot.
