Voting is CLOSED for week 5 Photo Contest on Composites--- 1/5/14 to 1/12/14

  • Vote early and often.
  • You can vote for more than one winner.
  • You only get to vote once.
  • You can not vote for your own entry.
  • Voting results are public.

You are voting on the image, not the knife.

In composite type photos some things (but not all) you might consider:
  • the multiple images all add a different perspective to the image. It's not just the same thing.
  • shadows match
  • color balance is the same across all the composite layers
  • there is no reason for any unfocused part of a knife in a composite since you can layer in sharpness across the knife
  • does composition lead your eye to the "right place" - what ever that is.
  • is it framed in like the pro's do to their images?
  • does the lighting make sense or does it come at the knife from several different directions?
  • If you are a photographer working at this level, the expectations should be high...

Cory can you give us any tips on achieving such a great image- I struggle with focus and contrast- are you using an auto focus camera?

if you look in the other thread pertaining to week 5 photos I give an in depth overview of my process. I use a Canon Rebel T1i (15MP) that I use without a tripod. The camera is set to auto focus when I press the button half way, then fully press it to take the image after it focuses where I want it to.
