These get heat treated tomorrow and will hopefully be done before Christmas.

Here's a few in-progress shots:

These four blades have now been heat treated and tempered. I have just run all four through the grinder to clean them up a bit:

Time for the latest installment of my four knife build:

Blades or all hardened and hand rubbed to 1000 grit. Now its on to the guards and bolsters.

Here's the bowie. The guard is a piece of sand molded brass cut from a 40 lb plate. I have squared it up on my disk sander and drilled/filed out the tang slot. Now I need to shape it a bit. The only tool I have to do this properly(?) is my drill press.

The last photo shows one of the knives just before glue up. The clear plastic holds some moose antler dust that will be added to some epoxy and used at the very front edge of the antler bolster to hide the tang slot seam.

Great looking knives, thanks for the pics. Don't forget to show the finished knives. I always get excited seeing the piece come to the finished knife.

Looking great. I haven't tackled hidden tang yet but one of these days I'll get the nerve.
