good morning,
anyone have experience with AKS 1080+ heat treat? the steel appears to be similar to 80CrV2 or Bestar2235 (1.2235). my main question is target temperature, especially after discussions of O1 and 52100. maker sites vary between 1500 and 1650F for hardening temp, with no mention of soak. I was thinking of 1475 to 1500F will try to stay close to 800C) with 15 minute soak followed by quench in room temperature Parks 50, temper at 325F twice for 2 hours with water quench between tempers. the blades are going to be kitchen knives for slicing, total edge angle 20 to 25 degrees, target hardness Rc 62-64, steel is 0.108"/3mm thick.
am i on the right track?
i found a thread on this forum and several others where tests were started, but test results were never posted.

I would HT 1080+ like 1084. It's been a while since I HT any, but I believe my target temp was 1475 with only a 5 minute soak. I then tempered the blades for 2 hours @ 400 degrees. They made great knives.
