I am making a knife for a buddy of mine and i am wanting to do bolsters and a end cap and i want them to be kind of old looking

i was gonna use stainless or carbon steel and just etch it but i didnt know if there was anything that anyone thought might look better. i thought about wrought iron but i have never worked it before.

any recommendations? it would need to be dark and aged looking

thanks
steve

Wrought Iron would be great for your requirements I think.

Or mild steel with a cold blue and bleach etch

I'd go with the wrought :)

I was thinking of wrought iron, i have never worked with it before so i was unsure of it. After seeing some other post with mild steel i thought about using that and peening (sp?) it and etching it to give it a worn look but i was unsure of how good it would resist rusting as this guy will be using it a lot.
