I call it the navi pocket knife stormcrow calls it the skillet. It has a 10" blade 3" wide. The handle is a re-purposed hickory handle. The tang is is 5" long and burned into the handle. A cotton cord with rawhide overlay wrap round out this blade.
 
I second the in hand pic. This thing really has a nice flow to it and if it is as big as described I am guessing it could be used as a paddle. Nice!!!! Wade
 
Actually i had never seen a smatchet before. I can see some similarities though. I hope the pic can give a sense of scale.

Rusty, I love the "threw the mirror" pic.
The Smatchet was a WW1 trench knife. Sharpened one side all the way, half way on the other.

Great for butchering Mammoths! Not sure I would want to wear that in a sheath. Might pull my drawers down! Most definitely Tribal.
 
the great thing is that its an evenly distributed 1lb 9oz. i like my knives to be fast in the hand:biggrin:
