I was getting ready to build a knife for a customer that uses Penn State colors on the handle...blue/white. I was going to use my usual Ivory Micarta when a friend showed me a pic of his Colt with Holly grips. Nice looking, but does anyone have any idea how fast it oxidizes? The micarta knife I built for myself is still pretty white after 12 years.

Joel, Holly stands up pretty good once stabilized. I would not use it if it hasn't been stabilized as it will move like douglas fir. The best source for unstabilized White Holly is http://www.amazonexotichardwoods.com/category/LU-HO.html

Mike has it here. Get the holly stabilized. I used some on a few knives a couple of years back "Non-stabilized" and they came in for a Sharpening and clean up.
They had yellowed enough that you wouldn't call it white at all any more.
