A Couple More Finished

I had these blades sitting around partially finished. Both are Admirals 1/8" 1075/1080. Ran out of sandpaper today on the knife I was working on, so I decided to finish these. They'll be Christmas presents to two of my friends. The one with Camo Micarta will get a Kydex sheath and the little one with Bocate scales will get a leather sheath.

This was the first batch (7 knives in all) that I tried etching on. I'm not all that crazy about the finish. The Camo one I sanded to 1000 grit. The little one I sanded to 400 grit and then used a grey Scotch Brite pad to finish it.

(I'll learn one of these days to take my pics in the daylight!!!)

That's what I would call a hamon. I etched both blades in etchant. The only difference is that on the larger one, I hand sanded to 1000 grit. The smaller one I only sanded it to 400 and didn't leave it in the acid as long.
