found this last night in the back of the safe. i was experimenting with kwaiken style blades several years ago and this one obviously has an exaggerated curve to it. i had forgotten it was even there. i do tend to jump from one obsession to the next. i am almost positive that this is O-1 tool steel. that and W2 were my go to steels back then. W2 takes my etch pattern much darker and sharper, so this has got to be a chunk of O-1. handle is burnished copper colored flat wrap over cinnamon dyed alligator hide. seemed fitting for a japanese style knife made in alabama. not many rays in my neck of the woods, but alligators. oh yeah.

Form follows function and you could slice a gator quick with that one- like the design and gator hide is very exotic looking. With that combo you could tackle many a dispatching task-

thanks, i had forgotten how much fun these types of knives are to make. might have to do some more variants soon.
