The B.A.T. (Big Arkansas Toothpick)

I'm calling it the Big &%& Toothpick, or BAT for short...

I actually have NO practical use for this thing, which is why i have sat and held it and started at it all day today. I was bored last night and only had an hour in the shop, so I knocked this out. Again, I make NO claims on this being useful, productive or functional, but it SURE is entertaining...

I also discovered (between this and the kiridashi) that if you sand to 220 before HT, then quench in used motor oil, and and do minimal clean up before flash tempering... You get this nice baked on black/gunmetal finish that I am HOPING will give the 5160 some corrosion resistance too.

That's an interesting grind, i like it. Reminds me of the old armor-piercing daggers from medieval times.

I don't know about armor-piercing, but I stabbed it repeatedly into a 2x4 (actually the frame of my shop door), and then threw (and stuck actually) it into the OSB-wood door. The tip remained undeformed after all that, so I think my HT was pretty good.
