Heattreat oven question

I know everyone will be glad to see this oven working,but I do have another question.
I purchased my heating element,without knowing anything.
I am now ready to install it,however it's too long.Can I cut my groove
across the bottom,which will take up the rest of my slack.
I will have something laying in the bottom,so,no danger in the knife
touching element.
Thanks for any help,:confused2::confused2:

God bless,Keith

I would say no Keith. A heating element is basically molten metal held in place by the oxidized coating around it. If it gets bumped by being on the floor of the furnace it's going to damage it and help it fail pre-maturely.

Thanks Boss.Can I buy something that will hold it up?I will run it across the top.
Thanks again,

God bless,Keith

just scrunch the coils together. If they are too long to do that, clip a bit off (not too much)
