Do you save your scrap pieces?

I'm talking about this little 3-4" slivers that fall off here and there from cutting out blades or shaping a tang... I normally don't but they remain on the shop floor until I clean up, so I know where I can find them...

Am I the only one that lets stuff just hit the floor and stay there for a while until I clean up everything? I guess that's poor shop practice that I need to work on...

Put them in a can and save them. I read a thread about making damascis from them. If not, send out for recycling. Or really small knives!!

Kinda like Archer, I seperate stainless and high-carbon cut-offs in a couple old coffee cans. Someday someone might want them for canister damascus. Probably take about ten years to make up a pound of each!

I know that's a bit silly but I just can't stand throwing away good material. :31:

Now if I could only collect all my sparks/grindings and find a use for them... :20:
