Etching maker marks

Hi, Everone.
I was reading Bob lovelesses book How To Make Knifes and saw where He used a process called KMER to etch his maker mark on his knifes does anyone know anything about this process.

Most everyone uses the electro-etch method now. It is much simpler and easier, and I don't know if you can even get the supplies to do the KMER method. The electro-etch machines are relativley inexpensive and you'll need a template with your mark on it. Knifemaker Ernie Grospitch makes these, and, there are other vendors marking methods is one.
