Thought you could get rid of me HUH

SASSY PINK LUUNCHBOX KNIFE MAKER
Just saying sorry to everyone for not posting in the last 2 weeks!

I have checked up on my phone but it dont like to let me post anything.

I have been away helping a friend build a derby car. I pretty much had to doo all the work to it.

We stripped a 97 Ford crown vic and stuffed a 70s ford 400 and c6 tranny in it. Built everything in the metal shop I work at.

One of his sponsors does decals and he made them all up for free.
He made some up for me to put on the car!!!!

The car did OK in the first heat but the throttle linkage came off. Ben got hung up on the wall so instead of getting smashed to bad he broke his stick.
We fixed it for the conciliation heat with a throttle cable and he went out and got a bunch of really good hits but the motor got to hot and wouldn't start back up yet! We got a lot of car left for future Derby's so hopefully we can get a few trophies!!!

It was a lot of work, I would leave for work at 6 am and get home at around midnight. I did this for about the last week and a half.

It was worth it though, especially watching it get the first few hits.

I built the motor mounts, exhaust stacks, battery box, switch box. also has a custom shifter and gas pedal in it. plus a cage!

Here are a few pics of the car!!!

Man, I thought you were gone for sure. :D I was actually a bit concerned considering we hadn't heard from you in a while and looked up your activity a few days ago. When I noticed you had been on that day I knew there was nothing to worry about.

Man,that looks like it would have been a blast to be driving.
Sounds like you had fun, even if you are dog-tired!:s7888:

We did miss ya Ern.
It looks like you're the sole sponcer. Love the decal. Congrats on a good looking car. I bet driving in a demo is allot of fun.

I am the only other sponsor besides the decal maker and Bishop fixtures and millwork(the place we both work at). They sponsored the money to get the car and all the parts and all the steel out of the metal shop that we needed. we also built it in the metal shop. that was nice cause we have all the tools.

They are a blast, Just drive around in a ring and hit each other. I have helped friend in the past but this is the first one I helped build from the ground up.
I am looking into getting a car or truck for next years derby's.
Its tough though with out a good sponsor. Ben was luck that Bishop wanted to pay for pretty much everything. That you don't find to often.
If I can find some good sponsors around here I will definitely be building a car for next year.

looks like fun... that motor wasn't loud was it? :9:

Here are a few more pics!!

This is me welding on something for the car!

Hey Big,
If that car comes up on the Barrett Jackson auto auction I would like to start the bidding at $11.43.

Welcome back,
Steve

You should ask for knifemaker sponsers for next year. It would put Custom Knife Making on the map. Maybe your sticker maker could put all of our logos on it for free. Its tax deductable for us. We aint big spenders but it may all help.

Bruce, Thats a good Idea and I have thought about it. I am going to figure up a budget after I look into a few cars.
I know Bishop paid around $1,400 but Ben bought everything new.

I know to just start out I would need around a thousand thats for a car, motor, tranny, and a few other parts.

It can be expensive but the payout is worth it.
The car we built was entered in 80's and newer and the payout for first place was $2500.
