I am in the process of deciding which one of these two knives I will be purchasing shortly, and would appreciate hearing some opinions about them, from you folks who already have them. So...which is the best, and why? Thanks.

Check out Ontairo that made the original RAT knives.
I have a 3 and 4.
The 3 is nice.
The 4 is very heavy for EDC. Would work for camping out in the feild/woods.

Have you looked at Swamp Rat Knive's offerings?
I have their HRLM (my first SwampRat),
a HCLM,a Busse Warden,an M-9 chopper,
a Waki and a couple others...
absolutely incredible knives!

In over 30 years of using knives,I've NEVER owned one that could be (ab)used like this...
I slowly pushed the envelope in the first couple of years I owned this knife,
learning what it could do...pushing harder, and pushing a bit more...
I chiseled concrete spatter off the interior walls of huge pipes that needed cleaning and repairs,
I cut the 1/2" wide banding straps off of PVC water pipes and other materials,
I used my 32oz Estwing framing hammer, both on the butt,AND the spine,
to "baton" a 10" hole out of a 1" thick sheet of paper-faced forming plywood...
This is the first knife I've ever used that I know I can trust my life to, 100%
(lol, can you tell I love my Swamp Rat knives?)

Wow Ironwood you definitely qualify as a field tester!!! Great photos. How long has that Eastwing hammer been around?))

Mike

that was my 2nd season with the hammer;
got it shortly before the HRLM.
(in that pic,I'd just got it back from some idiot who had "borrowed" it, and forgot it out in the rain for a couple months).

Ka-Bar makes a great product.

Great pictures Ironwolf, looks like you have a lot of fun with you knives!
