I just did a little etching today and it put me in the mood to see some more hamons. So let's see those hamons! 2thumbs Whether you own it, made it, or admire it.

Here is one I did recently just to get us started:

So do you guys etch then clean and then leave it alone?

This is my first that I etched 4 time while cleaning and sanding in between then the last etch I just cleaned, It was dark and beautiful like yours but then when I went to polish it it took all the darkness out of it.

Here is a kitchen knife I made for personal use out of w2. I still have some work to do on learning to photograph the hamon.

Thank you very much Murph cool 1

The knife shown is my GUS and it features a full (tapered) tang.
Blade length on the GUS is 7-1/8" L. with an OAL of 12-1/4"

This GUS is forged W2.
Handle scales are Desert Ironwood backed up with a thin bright red liner.

I added a short spacer stack (655 silicon bronze/416 stainless/red liner material) between the pinned & soldered 416 stainless guard and the Ironwood scales.

Sheath is hand sewn 9-10 oz. veg tanned leather with a neatsfoot oil finish.

This is one of my favorite knives to make ................ next to the other 150 that is ;) :D

While I have never put a hamon on any piece of steel, J. Neilson did put a pretty
interesting hamon on this hunter...
